Man Of the Match =
Well that's another month over for the Amateurs and as yet to taste defeatas they won the battlethe leaders of their respective leagues and more so going into this match both sides were unbeaten. The home side lead the Clwyd League with 8 wins and two draws and the Amateurs as leaders of the Teejac Gwynedd League had won 9 and drawn 2 of their previous 11 matches. Going back into the records this is the Quarrymen best start for many a season and they had to work hard to foil Prestatyn who were all out to preserve their unbeaten tag. On a dry yet windy day it was the visitors who had the elements in their favour in the first half and they had the best possible start when after a short corner on 9 minutes on the left Gareth and Geraint Owen exchanged passes before the former crossed the ball into the area where John O'Donovan with a fine header gave Ben Rowley in the home goal no chance of saving. Some of the visitors play was impressive at times with some clever inter passing that had the home side at full stretch and another fine move down their right opened up the home defence andRobertsthe ball back to Ceri Roberts to drill it past Rowley on 20 minutes. It was what their dominance deserved at that time with the home side rarely troubling Geraint Hughes in the visitors goal. In a rare attack after some unusual sloppy defensive play byvisitors, Prestatyngifted a goal when Lucas Brookes took adavantage and scored to bring the home side back into the match on 31 minutes. Ceri Roberts who was celebrating his birthday on Saturday had a couple of chances to put the visitors further ahead but he shot straight at Rowley and then had another effort over the bar before he made amends just before the break as he was too fast for the home defence and he coollythe ball past the advancing Rowley for a 3-1 interval lead. It was now the time for the visitors to face the strong wind and straight from the restart the home side piled on the pressure as the visitors had to reshuffle their side as the impressive Gareth Roberts had to leave the field with a slight hamstring injury to be replaced by Gerallt Mitchelmore. Stil the Quarrymen defended stoutly and when needed Geraint Hughes in goalwell with what came his way. Darren Hughes went close for the home side as the minutes ticked away. It must be said that as the match wore the home side were more anxious to get back into the game and as a result there were some niggling incidents thatof the Amateurs got caught up inwere given unnecessary yellow cards as were several of the home players. The home side pushed everybody forward and were given a glimmer of hope when the impressive Adie Holye was jugded to have been fouled in the penalty area. Up stepped substitute Ashley Bamber to score on 88 minutes. The remaning minutes saw a last gasp seige on the Amateurs's goal as even the home keeper Rowley joining the action in the Blaenau penalty area butno avail asheld on for a fine and in the end a deserved win.Next Saturday the Amateurs for a change have a home match, this time a John Smiths Gwyneddtie against Porthmadog Res with a 1.30pm kick off
