This Tuesday evening Gwynedd League clash was between the home team who hadpoints from their openingleague matches and the visitors who had a win and a draw from their two away encounters. In the end of this match it was the Quarrymen who had their unbeaten record in tact as they not only gained the three points on offer but they did so with only 10 men for 79 minutes of the match. The early exchanges were quite even with the best chance falling to Terry Hughes in the 10th minute for the visitors but clean through on goal his final effortover the bar with only Gareth Jones to beat in the home goal. The next acrtion saw him shown the red card from referee Robin Williams said afterwards was abusive language. Still with ten men Blaenau looked dangerousbut were behind on 20 minutes when Meirion Pritchardlatched onto a cross feild pass to open the scoring. The visitors hadgoodas Gareth Roberts went close only to be denied by the feet of Gareth Jones. On 40 minutes someattacking play set up the equaliser for the Amateurs and this time Gareth Roberts made no mistake and the scores were level at theAfter some fine attacking play by both sides in the first half, play after thewas scrappy to say the least withpasses going astray by both sides.Carwyn Edwards playing against his former side tried his best for the home side but lackedsuuport and that finaleffort on goal. That was mainly duethe fine defensive work of the visitors with Neil Reynolds outstanding as were his fellow defenders and as the half wore on the visitors were more in control and when Ceri Roberts headed a Dafydd Reynolds free kick in what turned out to be the winner on 74 minutes it what the Amateurs deserved. They had other giltchances to add to their score before thewhistlebut also haddefending to do but in the end they deserved the three points. For a change they will be homeCae Clyd on Saturday aswelcome Gwalchmai and then on Bank Holiday Monday they are at home to Beaumaris.Amateurs Res gained their first Safeflue Caernarfon and Distruct League point of the season with a 1-1 home draw aginst Talysarn on Tuesday evening with Llion Roberts their scorer
