Man Of the Match = Terry Hughes
The Amatuers having had their first scheduled Gwynedd League fixture at Porthmadog postponed on Saturday due to the weather, travelled to Real Llandudno on Tuesday evening where they had little difficulty in recording their first win of the season. The match was a triumph for Terry Hughes who opened his season's account with 4 well taken goals but the all round performance of the team pleased the manager Brian Vasghan, but he and the fans know there are stiffer opposition ahead between now and next April. The Amateurs took just 5 minutes to score as Gareth Roberts's first effort crashed against the bar but he was able tothe rebound into the back of the net, following some good work by John O'Donovan. On 19 minutes the Amateurs doubled their score as Terry Hughes was on the end of a Steff Parry cross at the far post giving keeper Dylan Bargate no chance. The visitors had other chances before John O'Donovan burst through the home defence on 37 minutes to make it 3-0 a scoreline which stayed until the break. The home side had the strong wind at their backs in the second half and for a few minutes they looked dangerous without really troubling visiting keeper Geraint Hughes.Any chance they had of coming back into the game were dashed on 57 minutes when the visitors produced the best move of this or any other matchas a 4 man move carved open the home defence and Terry Hughes converted a far post cross to score. Three minutes later he completed his hattrick with a well taken effort before the home keeper Bargate saw red for something he said to the referee. It was no surprise that the Amateurs added a further two late goals from Terry Hughes and John O'Donovan as the visitors were in complete control. The introduction of their three subs Ceri Roberts, Keiron Ellis and Euron Roberts in the second half shows the depth of the Amateurs squad butmust wait for a sterner opposistion beforetoo carried away with this result. That could beSaturday when they travel to Llangefni.
