League matche
Blaenau Ffestiniog Amateurs 1 v 1 Holyhead Hotspur
John O’Donovan 25
Blaenau Amateurs FC fielded a much weakened side for their mid week clash against Holyhead Hotspurs with the Anglesey side having chased the Quarrymen, in vain, nearly all season for the Teecom Gwynedd League title which has been secured at Cae Clyd a few games ago. Nevertheless the Hotspurs were up for this match from the start and were ahead after only 5 minutes when Ian Williams nipped in to score after Peter Jones in the home goal could only parry out a shot from Dewi Thomas to his path. The home side saw Geraint Owen's header beat Bryn Roberts in the Holyhead goal before his defender Sam Woods headed the ball clear. The home side got their equaliser on 40 minutes following a good move down the right which saw Rhys Jones set up the chance for John O'Donovan to score. On the hour mark Blaenau's Keiron Ellis received his second yellow card and though down to 10 men the home side went close with a O'Donovan shot which crashed against the bar whilst at the other end Euron Roberts was on hand to clear a goal bound effort off his goal line. Both sides went all out for the winner but on the balance of play a draw was a fair result of an enjoyable encounter.
