The Quarrymen stay clear at the top of the Teejac Gwynedd League after this deserved win against a side that have now lost all their first 8 matches of the season. This was Beaumaris's first home match but even this one had to be played on Llangoed's pitch as the Beaumaris ground needs improvements following it having been used as a car park over the summer months. When these two teams met at Cae Clyd in August the half time score was 4-0 and this was the case again last Saturday. The difference then was that the final score was 6-3 for the home side but there were no more goals in this encountrer after the break. The visitors arrived on Anglesey with just 11 players and no substitute and thankfully they didn't get any serious injuries early on that might have made a difference to the outcome of this match. Ceri Roberts was off the field for a while in the second half after a rash challenge left the striker clutching his right ankle but he came back on after lengthybut had there been a sub available i'm sure that would have been his last piece of action. Blaenau had Gareth Roberts back after missing the Rhiwlas match and it was he that opened the scoring after 7 minutes of play when following a good move hethrough the home defence, then rounded keeper Luke Williams and passed the ball into an empty net. The home defence looked shaky under pressure and Keiron Ellis should have made it 2-0 for the visitors but with the goal at his mercy he shot over the bar. Up front the home side had the impressive Portugese player Jailson Anjos but he lacked real support as he did create a few openings which were squandered. As the half wore on it was the visitors that were in complete control andhave scored longa fine move down the right saw Steff Parry cross low into the penalty area and there was Ceri Roberts to side foot the ball into the net on 31 minutes. Three minutes later Kieron Ellis made up for his earlier miss by neatly adding the 3rd and the scoring was completed when Gareth Roberts was pulled down by Luke Williams when through on goal. The keeper received a yellow card and the visitors a penalty which Dafydd Reynolds duly converted on 38 minutes.
What happened to the visitors after the break as they seemed to take their foot off the pedal and yet they were containing the home side well and Beaumaris's only real chance fell to Mark Owen who unmarked from a corner kick headed over the bar. At the other end Luke Williams who was so busy in the first period had little to do as play was mostly in the midfield area and Geraint Hughes in the Amateurs goal was hardly tested . The only black mark for the visitors was the sending off of Dafydd Reynolds on 74 minutes for his second bookable offenceafter that it wasAmateurs that had the bestto add to their score but Luke Williams saved well to keep the scorline down to what it was at the interval. It is another trip to Anglesey for the Quarrymen as they take on Bodedern. They should have Terry Hughes back after suspension but whether Aled Owen has come over his knee injury to play remains to be seen. The Reserves put up a stern effort home to Mynydd Llandegai in theCaernarfon and District League match only to lose at home by 1-0.
